If I told you that you could tap into a forever flowing reservoir of motivation, would you believe me?

Let’s accept the fact that motivation and being motivated are two different things. You can have a strong reason to do something, but having that drive to do it isn’t always there.

Being motivated is like wave, it comes crashing in, and then quickly goes away.

You know what I’m talking about.

That YouTube channel that you started — no uploads for months.

That Instagram account you set up to build an audience — you don’t even know what the hell your password could be.

I know how it goes, we get a fire idea at the time and we take action. We go above and beyond for the first few weeks and one day we just run out of gas — all motivation just fades — that idea took more than we thought to actually bring it to life.

I’m telling you, I’ve found a pool of motivation to keep me going, and I’m going to let you in on the secret.

But first, let’s talk about going above and beyond.

“The things I do for love.” — Courage

I’m not sure how old I was when I found out what love was, hell, I still don’t know if I truly know what love really is — but I do know that love will make you do things that you wouldn’t do normally.

There’s an old cartoon I use to watch called Courage the Cowardly Dog.

The episodes take place in the middle of nowhere — literally where they live — and the craziest bizarre things happen. Courage is always going the extra mile to save his beloved owner, Muriel, from wild situations.

One of my favorite episodes is when Muriel gets bit by a “weremole.”

Yup, you know what comes next.

Muriel then slowly transforms into a weremole and Courage has to put on his cape — again.

After a quick google research, Courage finds out he needs to get a piece of the weremole’s hair that bit Muriel.

He then proceeds to risk his life and dresses up as a rabbit to lure the weremole into the garden where Muriel was bit — he saves the day per usual.

At a young age that cartoon was subtly teaching me that you will go through and do whatever it takes for the people you love. Courage stakes his life almost every episode to save his owner in the name of love.

The Secret We All Know

The majority of us have gone the distance for somebody we love. Even with a ton of things to consider sometimes before we take action, it doesn’t matter.

When you think about it it’s actually kind of scary.

We’ll do anything to make somebody else we love happy, but what about ourselves?

Shouldn’t we love ourselves enough to do the things we said we were going to do?

You’ll hear it from me and countless others I hope a million times before it finally resonates with you.

One major life hack and the secret to staying motivated is loving yourself!

No, I’m not saying you don’t love yourself because you didn’t stay consistent with your YouTube channel.

I’m simply saying that you should love yourself enough to put forth the effort to make yourself happy! And reaching that goal you had in mind sure as hell will be satisfying.

Your biggest commitment should always be to yourself — Bridget Devoure

Stay blessed!
