There Are Only 3 Types Of Doers

Which one are you?

When I was a Resident Assistant in college, I was constantly being told the same thing over and over:
“I could never do that. I give you credit.”
With every job, new opportunity and challenging position I held, there were people standing by the wayside, wondering why I got outside of my comfort zone, took challenging positions and followed my passions. They sat at their desk jobs, went to their 3am house parties or found a career “where the money was at”.
In my life, I’ve only known 3 different types of doers. See if you can can find examples of each in your own life:
- PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY CAN’T — These are the people who, when they hear about a difficult job or task, shudder at the thought. If it involves getting outside of their comfort zones, staying up for extra hours or completing unexpected tasks, they will tell you it’s simply not possible. Catch-phrase: Wow, I could never do something like that.
- PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY CAN — The ones who are always throwing themselves into everything, hoping to find something they are stellar at. They will throw themselves at anything they think will make them successful, rich or a household name. Their can-do spirit is infectious, even if it seems misplaced. Catch-phrase: Fake it until you make it.
- PEOPLE WHO KNOW THEY CAN, BUT WON’T- They believe they can do everything and anything, but they keep themselves in check. Instead of jumping at any opportunity, they jump on the right opportunity. They dive into careers, relationships and hobbies they know they can fully commit to. Catch-phrase: I can do anything I want, but not everything I want.
Which are you?
But more importantly,
Who do you want to be?
