“If you try, there’s no guarantee you’ll be successful, but if you don’t try there is a guarantee you won’t.” — Dan Schawbel

Regret is my biggest fear.

I can’t imagine my life passing by and not trying to do the things I wanted to do. There is such thing as too late.

The act of trying isn’t difficult. Figure out what you want to try, break it down into an actionable step, and do it.

It’s the story we tell ourselves beforehand that determines whether or not the trying even happens.

More often than not, that story is a negative one. We come up with excuses like the fear of failure or concern about what other people might think. And then we do nothing. We let time pass by and don’t even attempt the things we might really want.

Isn’t that sad?

The people who do try think the exact opposite. They see the potential for improvement or doing something that might make them happy. They take action on their dreams and goals and actually find out whether they’re worth pursuing further.

Don’t you want to be like that person?

Guess what? You can be. It’s totally up to you. You just need to change that narrative.

How? Here are some ideas:

1. Surround yourself with other doers.

2. Surround yourself with others interested in the thing you want to try.

3. Consume content that inspires you.

4. Practice affirmations.

5. Study how others have done the thing you want to try and are currently doing it.

I know there’s something sitting in the back of your mind that you know you should try. Please do it. It might just lead you down the path you’ve been waiting for. You’ll never know what could have been unless you give it a shot.

What is one new thing you vow to try doing?
