What’s The Worst That Could Happen

It’s rooted deep in the foundation of our world, that failure is not acceptable. We’ve placed so much emphasis on achievement in life, and we’ve forgotten about the value of failure. The value of running into a wall over and over again, and how truly beneficial that is to grow and go beyond what your once thought was possible. This is what has spurred true innovation throughout history, and It’s the reason we’ve gotten as far as we are today technologically as well as a human race. Failing is simply another way to try something that may or may not work. You’ll never know unless you just fucking do it and see what happens. In this world, if you’re challenging the status quo, and doing things differently, then you’re bound to run into failure at some point in your life. It’s not something we should avoid, but rather embrace and reflect upon.

Our parents and teachers growing up place so much value on the achievement, and nearly make us fear the thought of failing in the world. Why? Because they themselves are scared of failing. There’s a deeper reason why elders teach you not to fail rather than encouraging it. It starts with their personal fear, which may have derived from their parents and so on. It takes a very special breed of people in the world to destroy that belief and really be fearless and shameless of fucking up. It’s not pleasurable by any means, but it’s an essential part to making a change. Use it as a tool to learn, to explore new opportunities, and to question everything. It’s the necessary ingredient, and don’t let it bring you down. Once you run into a few brick walls, you kind of get used to it, and realize that you can just learn for the next experience. Learn everything about everything. They’re are so many valuable lessons that stem from failure.

Not being willing to fail will leave you paralyzed. It’ll leave you in state of inaction. You’re going to fuck up in life, otherwise, you’ll live a boring life. You’ll start again. You can’t lose if you don’t quit. That’s the best advice someone gave me. Stay in the game and you’ll win eventually. Just fail over and over until you succeed. Be comfortable with the fact that you only have to get it right one, and then the world will forget about all those other times you failed. It’s the game, and that applies to anything you go after in life.

Failing sucks. No one goes into something wanting to fail. That’d be fucking ridiculous if you did. You do something to win. That’s not the point. The point is that whenever you embark on a path to do something, don’t be scared to just say, “Fuck it. Why not.” See what happens. Everyone has had their fair share of failures, and I know you want to be the one who succeeds without ever failing, but I highly doubt that will happen. Failure is a sign that you’ve been there, done that. It shows that you had the willingness to try. You’ll survive the other side regardless of how bad things may seem.

Failure isn’t necessarily limited to business, but applies to all aspects of life. Every person has endured the pain of failure to a certain degree, and is still here with us. Rather than reminiscing and mourning upon your mistakes, reflect on them and learn from them for what comes next. Make it a meaningful time, and absorb all the takeaways, both positive and negative from the experience. The faster you do this, the better off you’ll be. Just get it out of the way.

We’ve all been there. Be comfortable with yourself, and don’t stress or worry if things aren’t working out. Stressing does not help the outcome. This is a lot easier said than done of course. Honestly, what’s the worst that could happen?! As long as your healthy, everything else can be fixed.

Keep rolling the dice.
