Why 50 is the New Awesome

Me (in the middle) and my two awesome friends from high school who kidnapped me on my 50th birthday and took me to Mexico where we drank Corona for breakfast (of course I had a granola bar too because I’m not 18 anymore and it’s all about balance, people).

I never was the type of woman who worried about aging. I’ve never hid from my age or cowered from birthdays. In fact, just the opposite. I enjoyed growing older because each year represented a type of rebirth, an awakening of my senses that pressed me to reevaluate and take another look at where I was on the time continuum.

During my 49th year, however, I found myself in a bit of a funk regarding my upcoming birthday…
