Why I deleted my WordPress site

My very first attempt at blogging was opening a WordPress account and having this brilliant idea that I will be writing something interesting everyday and sharing it with the world. Boy was I wrong …

I knew absolutely nothing about blogging and even much less about writing.

Right after opening my WordPress account … I forgot about it.

Keep in mind I was being naive in the fact that I was immature and looking at the world through eyes half closed.

So there I was writing my first blog, and you would never believe what I wrote about … quitting smoking! In hindsight it was probably good practice because topically it was genuine and authentic to me, writing about what I wanted to write about. But when I think about the content, I did not do it justice because I was trying to sound fancy and being a perfectionist.

Writing is not about wearing the mask you want the world to see.

Writing is about putting yourself out there in the most raw form possible.

Writing is about jumping off the cliff and not wondering if you can fly, but flying regardless of what the world says.

WordPress seemed to me like the Super Bowl of blogging and at the time my goal of what I wanted to achieve was childish to say the least. But where you decide to put your content should not influence what and why you publish.

I wanted to be seen and looked for affirmation in the wrong places, like a naive teenager does.

Fast forward a couple of years …

So many platforms exist these days for you to blog on, to express yourself and putting out content for a multitude of reasons. All you have to do is decide why you are blogging, vlogging, etc. What is it that you want to achieve, and then not caring what the world has to say about it.

If you want to blog about food, make sure you have the tastiest articles on the block.

If you want to vlog about your dancing routines, make sure its the bangiest of the bangiest.

If you want to blog about traveling, make sure your readers develop a craving in their souls to start traveling.

Basically what I am saying is this: DON’T HALF-ASS IT!

The vehicle you choose to do it on is irrelevant, as long as you continue feeding that hunger and putting out content that reflects your truest self.

You will get head winds for sure, people who do not approve but hell, it’s not their business.

You just do you!

Yours truly,

Future CEO 👨‍💼
