Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew

Dogfish Head Brewery

Bitches Brew is a dark beer that’s a fusion of three threads of imperial stout and one thread of honey beer with gesho root. Dogfish released this beer in honor of the 40thanniversary of the original release of Miles Davis’ studio album “Bitches Brew,” released in 1970. This limited beer was originally released at SAVOR, An American Craft Beer & Food Experience, in 2010 at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC. The label features the albums iconic artwork, created by Mati Klarwin.

This beer is best served cool, poured into a snifter. It gets better with every sip, as the complex flavors are more pronounced as it warms, and is the perfect pairing with spicy foods. This beer aint no bitch either, coming in at a 9% abv.

Appearance: pours very dark brown with a tan head that leaves some lacing on the glass.

Nose: notes roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee.

Taste: roasty malt flavors, molasses, chocolate, bitter coffee, caramel, and sweetness from the honey.

Mouthfeel: full-bodied with a smooth finish.

Overall: Great Imperial Stout. Dogfish created an amazing beer to honor the iconic jazz musician with.
