AI doesn’t have to take your job.

Entry level work can be automated already today. This isn’t a bad thing. It can free us humans to work on more interesting problems.

If your an early career software engineer or new grad today, you might be worried your experience isn’t useful when AI can replace you.

But you are human. AI is not.

To evolve into an Augmented Engineer and thrive in our changing industry, look at AI like your own personal army of AI software engineers.

Become the team lead of your own AI programmers.

There’s no point in trying to compete with AI that’s going to continually improve. You need to learn to use it like the new tool that it is.

Instead of being just a junior engineer, now you are the team lead of an infinite number of junior AI programmers!

Invest in your skills the robots can’t do.

Develop your ability to think clearly and understand the problem to solve. Distill things down to concise instructions.

Understand system design and how little pieces fit together to do something great.

Improve your communication skills and build relationships with your colleagues. Understand the problems your customers and internal stakeholders have.

Lead the AI, like Engineering Managers Lead Today

After you distill a problem down into actions with clear deliverables, turn to your army of AI engineers and give them the clear task to complete.

Then audit and test their work. Understand what it does. Be a strict PR reviewer. Follow your company’s policy on using AI generated code.

Leverage AI to help you move faster.
