In the grand, unwritten manual of societal expectations, the chapter on “How to Be a Good Woman” is, by far, the most hilariously outdated yet meticulously followed. As a self-proclaimed expert and a woman who’s been through the wringer, I’m here to offer my take on this guidebook.

Your lasagna must have the power to solve world hunger, and your cookies should bring about world peace. If you can’t julienne vegetables with the precision of a samurai, or if you don’t know the 27 ways to cook an egg, are you even trying?

The kitchen is your kingdom, where spices bow to your command, and recipes are mere suggestions for your creativity. If your dinner parties don’t end with guests weeping tears of joy into their dessert bowls, you have to question your commitment to the craft.
