The Declaration for Awesome

For the inaugural post of this blog, I wanted to do something BIG! I wanted to share all the thoughts and beliefs that went into creating the Awesome Initiative, so I wrote an entire declaration, urging readers to challenge the conventional and exercise control over their own lives for the sake of their happiness and well being. The rest of this post is an excerpt of the declaration, which can be downloaded by clicking here.

We have been living on this Earth for (insert age here) years, but how many of those years have we been alive? I’m talking about inner peace, blissfulness, top-of-the-world, and singing-at-the-top-of-your-lungs alive.

In high school, college, and adulthood, it is easy to get caught up in the never-ending rat race of grades, resumes, and money. It is this polluted mindset that causes otherwise good people to become zombies and robots who only follow the crowd — a crowd that’s going in the wrong direction. To avoid becoming zombies and robots like the masses, we need a fresh mindset — a mindset of thinking for ourselves and being open to new ideas. One in which happiness and success is attainable in every moment and every day simply by having energy, love, inspiration, and appreciation for life and the people around us.

Most often, it isn’t until we are faced with death, that we choose to live the lives we want. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Today, and everyday from here on out, is our chance to do something different, crazy, exciting, and remarkable. It is our chance to start living more purposefully, our chance to learn new things, explore horizons outside our environment, and improve the world around us. It is our chance to prioritize happiness on a daily basis.
