A WAR broke out this morning in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It started on the Diag at the University of Michigan and quickly spread throughout campus. Thousands were affected by the attacks and things are still not under control yet.

No one is trying to stop the war. I repeat: no one — not the police, not the University president, not the National Guard — is trying to stop this war.

It might be because this event is not tragic. You see, this is not a war fueled by hate or personal or political conflict. These are not attacks of malice or cruelty.

Rather, it is a war of love and thankfulness. The attacks are actually acts of kindness. People have not been harmed…they have been uplifted — uplifted by welcoming smiles, genuine compliments, helpful acts, a sense of belonging, and heartfelt expressions of gratitude.

Let it be known: this is not a time to take refuge and close your door or mind. It is a time to open your heart and give someone a hug.

In fact, you should join the battle! Participate in the joyful rebellion…and make the world a more loving place.

Happy National Gratitude Month :)
