The Backbone — Episode 28: Scaling a Finance Function of a High Growth Company with Strategic & Institutional Investors
On this episode of The Backbone I chat with Tiffany Hsiao, VP Finance at Rubikloud.
Joining me on this episode of the Backbone is Tiffany Hsiao, VP Finance at Rubikloud. Rubikloud uses Artificial Intelligence to automate intelligent decision-making for enterprise retailers.
As the VP Finance, Tiffany is responsible for Finance, Operations, IT, and Legal at Rubikloud. Prior to Rubikloud, Tiffany spent 7 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers in both Vancouver and Melbourne offices managing the delivery of PwC services to clients in the Audit and Assurance practice. As a founding employee at Rubikloud, Tiffany played an integral role in Rubikloud’s rapid growth from a team of 5 people to now over 120 people in four different geographies in the past five years. Her ability in building a lean G&A function combined with a deep understanding of business operations allows start-ups to grow and scale in a sustainable way. Tiffany holds a BCom from the University of British Columbia and has a Chartered Accountant designation.
On this episode of The Backbone, I chat with Tiffany about:
- Her time with PwC Vancouver and Melbourne where she worked on mining, real estate, infrastructure and manufacturing clients, prior to taking the plunge into tech at Rubikloud and what that transition was like for her.
- Rubikloud and what it’s all about.
- The biggest changes in her role as the company went through various rounds of financing, and the processes/procedures she had to put in place for the scaling finance function.
- How she managed to serve the needs of both institutional and strategic investors.
- Her learnings as a finance leader for a company that sells into enterprise organizations with long sales cycles.
- The importance of the finance function at a technology company.
We close things off with a quickfire round:
