For more background on the launch of this podcast, check out Introducing The Backbone!

Joining me on this episode is Ryan Levenberg, VP Finance — Q4 Systems Inc, the fastest growing cloud-based investor relations and capital market solutions to the IR Industry with over 1,200 clients.

Ryan is the VP of Finance at Q4 and joined in December 2014. Prior to joining Q4, Ryan was working with both public and private companies at PwC, providing assurance services and transaction support. Ryan’s entrepreneurial spirit paired with his professional experience has allowed him to bring innovative financial management practices to Q4. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Ryerson University, a Master of Management & Professional Accounting from the University of Toronto and is a CPA, CA (PwC).

On this episode of The Backbone, I chat with Ryan about:

  1. His journey into tech and startups and from his university startup to PwC and now Q4 Inc.;
  2. What Q4 Inc is all about;
  3. What it’s like to make 3 acquisitions as a startup having raised $25M;
  4. Best practices for maintaining strong investor relations; and
  5. The importance of the finance function at an early stage technology company

We close things off with a quickfire round:

  • Go to online resource for all things startup finance related
  • Favourite productivity hack
  • One thing you don’t leave the office before finishing
