A group of young women came to the rescue Thursday morning when they shrewdly identified a friend’s blatant cry for help. Becca Handley, 24, who is known amongst her chat groups for ❤️-ing every single text — even ones that don’t make sense to heart — reacted with merely a 👍 to a text around 10:23am. Friends of Becca say it was “clear she was in trouble” from this overt change in behavior.

“We knew because Becca hearts every f***ing one of our texts in the chat, even if it just says ‘lolol,’” reported her friend Kelsey. “At first we were like ‘Cool it Becca!’” explains Taylor, a friend from Y7. “But she had spiraled to a point where if she didn’t ❤️ a text, she worried that we’d assume she was dead or even mad at us.” That’s why when Becca reacted with just a 👍 to Taylor’s last text, the group knew something was amiss, and had to reach out. Sources close to Becca say they remember seeing signs — she’d been using fewer exclamation points, less caps lock. “Becca only sang 4 songs at karaoke last night instead of her usual deep dive into Madonna through the decades,” Kelsey remembered.

Following the scare, Becca took a couple of mental health days to livestream her feelings, only using her phone for email, FaceTime, online shopping, and social media. Sources say Becca is almost back to her usual ❤️ing self. “She even scrolled up and changed the 👍 reaction to a ❤️,” Taylor mused. “We’re so glad to have our friend back, and our phones blowing up again.” 🥰
