By 1521, reform-minded Martin Luther had come to believe that the church in Rome had grown corpulent from feasting upon peasants. He was called before the Diet of Worms for heresy. After some back-and-forth, The Diet unintentionally reduced the church’s size by cutting back on Nordic reformers.
