It could happen to anyone.
America goose-stepped a little closer to fascism this week as President Trump brought in a spectacularly unqualified toady to replace a real prosecutor who couldn’t find a legal case against former FBI director and Trump obsession James Comey.
And this is only the beginning.
When President Trump swaggered back into the Oval Office with his crack team of podcast grifters and unemployable dependents, along with his personal brand of corruption, narcissism, and dementia, we expected interesting times.
But only the most shit-goggled pessimist would have predicted the speed with which Team MAGA would steer the Great Republic towards full-on authoritarianism.
With the Republican majorities in Congress and on the Supreme Court reduced to snivelling orange-nosed sycophants, expect to see more of Trump using the power of the federal government to punish his real or imagined enemies.
If you’re an imbiber of MAGA Kool-Aid, you’re likely in the stands with your big foam finger, cheering on the persecution of people that Fox News and online bots have taught you to fear.
