How my process involves kites and why that matters to you.
I eagerly grab a cup of coffee and gingerly set it beside my desk. Reachable, but not in the elbow zone, for my laptop certainly does not need an accidental coffee bath. My mind is racing, mentally preparing for everything needed before I can start. Coffee, paper, my favorite pen, calculator, and music. I have all night if needed, to work my magic. The anticipation to start has been building from the time I put my little one to bed, to this moment. I am ready to get in the zone and my mind ticks off everything to do. Review the client's data, organize it, pick through the patterns that emerge for the bits of treasure…Bzzzz, Bzzz, Bzzz. I glance at my phone and mentally groan. My friend is calling and not a single conversation with her has ever been shorter than 30 minutes. I swear she has a gift for knowing when I will be the most inconvenienced with a call.“No time today doll, sorry” and I click the mute button so the phone will stop buzzing. Mute not ignore so she won’t be offended. Yes, she knows when I do that. I am ready. Smiling to myself I pull the file on the laptop. I open the flood gates.
My eyes skim through the information. Names, dates, program details, attendance. Lots of great info here, I smile again. I do that a lot when working, smiling and chatting to the data and myself. I pull up a blank excel sheet and start…
