Far Away

It seems distant
In fact, it's far away
But the distance is relative
It's so far away but so close
We build proximity
We shorten the distances
We are one click away from each other
We are separated or joined by a cell phone screen or monitor
We are joined or separated by a few hours of travel
I have never been so close but distant from each other
It was never so distant but intensely close
Far or near, it doesn't matter
Near or far, the intensity is the same
It's almost like it's right across the street
But it's an extensive street
It's almost like it's on the other side of the world
But it's a world diminished by technology
We are "distant" close
Or rather, "nearly" distant
In the end, we are right there, close to each other
