It was a prank. I was young. I just thought it’ll be funny. Beryl was always up for a laugh.

As she turned the corner, eight month pregnant bulge appearing first, I jumped out suddenly.

“SURPRISE!”

Beryl screamed. Her waters broke. She doubled up in pain.

I ran for help.
