Not so long ago, I took my grandson who was then aged 9 to see the theatre musical Prince of Egypt.

Chatting on the way home, we discussed how Moses had to keep his feelings hidden so others around him would not discover his Big Secret.

My grandson thoughtfully compared this to the way football managers mask or play down their feelings at a match, and gave me a demonstration.

It was a salutary lesson from a child 53 years my junior. I felt such gratitude to have been blessed with wisdom from the next generation.

We are not our feelings

Of course feelings are special. They tell us something important about the situation we are in.

We can then get to choose what if anything to do with or about those feelings.
