How Can We Stop Men Selling Services Hitting on Women Indiscriminately?
I’m 64 and I’m fed up of it
I’m not the kind of person who usually complains for no reason so please hear me out.
As I write this, I am sitting in a beach cafe on a Caribbean island whiling away some hours before my flight home.
As I was having lunch here awhile ago, I thought I heard my name being called. However, I didn’t know anyone in the café so I didn’t turn around until the third time.
When I did I saw one of the men who worked on the boat which I’d sailed on earlier waving at me. “Are you enjoying your lunch?” he called out across the room.
My mouth full of food, I nodded and returned to my meal. I honestly wouldn’t have minded as much if he’d come to the table to speak to me. Or better still, if he had spoken to me after I finished my meal.
But no – that clearly would’ve entailed good manners which he does not possess.
Then there was a time on the beach when I made the mistake of buying a coconut water from a passing vendor as I sat on a sun lounger.
I’m not sure why he thought it appropriate to sit without asking on my sun lounger smoking a cigarette while simultaneously cutting the top off the coconut.
