January is in the rear-view mirror already, and we are nearly halfway through February. That went fast — for me at least.

How did it go for you? There is something a little bleak about January, isn’t there? Perhaps it’s the anticlimax after the festivities. Definitely the cold — unless you are in warmer climes.

But now we’re into the shortest month of the year. It’s crazy birthday month in my family. And this year, there’s so many landmark birthdays. My grandson turns ten in a few days and my niece — whom I raised — hit 18 last week. My only son turned 30 today and my youngest daughter will be 21 in two weeks. It’s intense.

The middle two are throwing a joint birthday party this Friday. I am trying to keep my nose out of their organising. I’m dying to order balloons and put up baby and childhood photos of them. I just need the go-ahead.
