I had a most interesting conversation earlier this week with a woman I worked with during the presidential campaign for VP Kamala Harris. She told me I did not need to attend the Women’s March in Washington, DC, on Saturday, January 18th.

I found the call fascinating since I told her three weeks earlier that I was not attending her march. When she asked me why, I responded I was resting for the next four years.

I have known this woman and worked with her since Obama was first elected. We have canvassed, protested, called, texted, postcarded, registered voters, won/lost together, and organized many, many, many people.

I think because we did so much together, she was shocked that I was not enthusiastic about going out and walking against Trump. She pushed me to find out why. I told her I owed her no explanation but would tell her why because we were work sisters.

I asked,” What are you marching for?”

She answered, “We want them to hear our voices.”

I replied, “Your voices don’t matter. The majority of white women voted for Trump in each of…
