Thrifty Words Challenge #11: Late

Photo by Pierre Bamin on Unsplash

Congratulations to our T-shirt winners Anouska Parr and Tracy Stengel. If you didn’t win a T-shirt, but still want one, you can get them here. We’ll hold more prize contests soon. Meanwhile, keep writing!

As a kid, in school, I often got my name written on the chalkboard for being tardy to class. Soon thereafter I would get a checkmark after my name because I wasn’t paying attention. I was (am) a dreamer. It takes something special to hold my attention. I easily slip into the world in my head rather than the world of reality.

Now that my profession is as a writer, all of that daydreaming has become a skill. No longer will I get my name written on a board with checkmarks next to it. I do, however, still have deadline obligations. And I missed my latest deadline.

This Thrifty Word Theme Challenge #11 is late. I’m just now writing it at 6:00 a.m. on Monday. I apologize for my tardiness. I make no excuses.

Instead, this week my tardiness informs my theme challenge. Late.

Late can mean happening after the expected time. Late can also mean deceased. I leave it up to you to interpret the word.

Late. 50 words. Go!

We’re a Bad Influence because we INCITE change through inclusion, thought and creativity. We imagine a world where people can think critically, express themselves, and thumb their nose at the status quo, together.
