Thrifty Word Challenge #24: Mistakes

I recently came across a 2016 article in which writer Tony Schwartz expressed his deep remorse for ghostwriting Donald Trump‘s 1987 Memoir The Art of the Deal.

Schwartz has much to be sorry for — that book, which he suggested, led directly to Trump being offered The Apprentice show, which then led him to run for president of the United States of America. For this, the ghostwriter has done his best to make amends, including donating his Art of the Deal royalties to charity, and refusing Trump’s invitation to write the sequel. (Schwartz also has to be considered indirectly responsible for the eighteen plus further books Trump has had ghostwritten since he (Schwartz) wrote the first one.)

Happily for us, most of our mistakes are not world-changing. What was the biggest mistake you ever made? Or do you have a story about a happy mistake? Like when my fellow writer and editor Marilyn Flower accidentally sent an invitation she meant for me to another contact; the happy result was a great joint podcast.

Don’t be shy, it’s time to share those errors, happy accidents, or world-changing errors of judgment, but make them thrifty!

Mistakes, fifty words – GO!
