There is a running joke in my house that fathers get shorted on Father’s Day. As a father, I’m the one saying it, and everyone thinks it’s a joke.

I have to be honest; I do too.

Honoring my wife is my favorite thing to do. She gets what’s deserved on Mother’s Day but when offered the opportunity to put together a small guide for last minute Father’s Day gifts, I jumped at the opportunity.

SheaMoisture

Luckily, more attention is being brought to Father’s Day, especially over at SheaMoisture. They produced a new campaign in honor of the holiday called, Father Noir, along with a visual memoir to celebrate Black fatherhood in collaboration with Love, Inc.

The project was curated by photographer Erik Umphery and Tommy Oliver and features images of Black fatherhood that is in direct opposition of the stereotype that Black men aren’t good fathers.

Thank you for this.

Their limited-edition gift set for this collaboration is available at Walmart.com for $14.88.

Maison Noir Wines “P-OUI”

Nothing says refined Father’s Day like a good bottle of wine — and this wine is Black-owned which makes us love it even moire. Yes-Pinot is taken from a cross section of vineyards throughout the Willamette Valley to make “One Pinot Under a Groove.”

Yes-Pinot is available for $25 and is available on their website.

Mississippi Champagne

If your father is an avid reader, debut novel by philanthropist Derrick Winston Mississippi Champagne is perfect. The story is an action-packed adventure filled with fights, love, and Black ownership. Here’s a small synopsis:

In the 1900’s, North Carolina’s Geechee River region serves as a melting pot for Blacks, Whites, Indians and Jews. Former Buffalo Soldier, Willie Moses Sandwinder, hopes the uncharted territory will provide him a personal homestead. Somewhere in the heart of the beautiful yet treacherous wilderness, Willie stumbles upon BJ, a man who has been mauled by a bear, and loosely clinging to life. Their encounter sets Willie on a path to fight to the death for his Cherokee wife, Aponi, start a family, and establish a thriving moonshine business.

The novel is available for purchase now on Amazon.

Hue for Every Man

Finding products for Black and multicultural men is a challenge. Getting them to try those products is even harder. While the early 2000s ushered in the era of the metrosexual, that’s not a term we use anymore. The opposite of that would be toxic masculinity.

Nowadays, men care about their skin and have adopted bonafide regimens to suit their needs. Enter Hue for Every Man, a skincare line started for Black and multicultural men by NBA champion and TV star Matt Barnes. Their Charcoal Pore Control Face Mask is one of their bestsellers and it is only $3.99. That, along with their other products are available on their website.

SPGBK

Watch companies get their inspiration from several different parts of life — luxury, sex, history; but SPGBK gets its inspiration from education — that means their watches are smart. We at BALDWIN can attest to the fact that they look intelligent.

Vibrant colors and sporty construction make this brand unique and interesting. It’s a high-end watch that you can wear everyday — giving the consumer (or their dads), an immediate return on their investment.

SPGBK is made in North Carolina and is a Black-owned company. This brand sells directly from their website.
