The Black Panther: The Soundtrack was released Feb. 9th and is executively produced and curated by Kendrick Lamar. The album features artists like SZA, The Weeknd, Swae Lee, Travis Scott and more. While only a few appear in the movie, others stand out on their own. Tracks such as “Paramedic!”, “The Ways” and “I am” shed a light on lesser known artists abilities. Lamar brings together a long list of artists to produce a spectacular album in a way few movie soundtracks have been able to achieve. Debuting at №1 on the Billboard 200 chart it gives life to not only the movie but the movement Marvel has created.

Also released on February 9th 2 Chainz dropped an EP he previewed on Instagram just a few days before. The title was inspired by John James “Jimbo” Fisher Jr., head football coach at Texas A&M University. The 4 song long project titled The Play Don’t Care Who Makes It features YG and Offset on the track “Proud.” The project continues to prove the 40 year old rapper 2 Chainz’s ability to make “trap” music so well. The rappers ability to rhyme and flow bars better than most trap artists.

The Internet’s Steve Lacy has teamed up with rising star Ravyn Lenae to create the mix you should have used for Valentine’s night. The 5 song EP titled Crush was produced by Lacy himself and features Lenae’s sultry R&B vocals on smooth old school tracks. The connection between the two composed songs that make it hard to believe two teens can make. Lacy’s production is like no other, and has collaborated with artists like Tyler The Creator, J Cole, and Kendrick Lamar. Lenae’s soul like vocals are not conformed to a range and is a promising rising artist. Lacy described the work between the two his Pharrell/Kelis, Timbaland/Aaliyah moment in a Beats 1 interview last week. Tracks like Computer Luv and The Night Song prove the comparison and demands a listen.

In an interview with Zane Lowe, he explains that the track titled “Look Back” was recorded a few years ago in a session at Post Malone’s studio. A$AP Rocky, Gucci Mane, and 21 Savage have teamed on a London On Da Track beat to produce “Cocky” a single from the soundtrack for Uncle Drew. Khalid and Normani have also teamed together to release a track from the soundtrack for the upcoming movie Love Simon.
