2013 marks the 15th anniversary of Louisville’s return to the International League. The franchise joined the league (along with two other teams) in 1998 after the American Association folded following the 1997 season. A previous Louisville franchise, known as the Colonels, was part of the IL from 1968–1972 (as an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox). After the current organization came to Louisville in 1982, it played in the American Association through 1997.

The four teams that joined the IL in 1998 have enjoyed much success over the last 15 years. Included in that group is Louisville as the franchise won a league title in 2001.

Below is a page from the International League Media Guide the chronicles the 15 years since the IL picked up four new members (including Louisville), growing the league to its largest-ever (and current) membership of 14 teams.
