7 Days Down. Only 358 to Go…
A week of soreness, cold showers & sickness.
I’m going to keep the big blogs to once a month, but thought I’d include small, weekly updates to stay accountable and track progress.
Week one, otherwise known as “Fark my arms are sore” week, is over. Month one is Boxing and I’ve enlisted the coaching of Dan & Dundee @ Dundee’s Boxing Gym, West End.

The plan this month is to have two PT sessions, (Wednesday and Friday morning), three days of miscellaneous exercise and two days rest per week.
My first “intro” PT session was last Saturday and Dan put me through the paces of padwork and weights.
I used to think I had semblance of coordination — such dreams of grandure have since been rectified. I understand all the moves, but it takes a good two seconds between when he calls things and my mind understanding what’s going on.
Post-session, I was expecting the usual two-day DOM to kick in Monday (which it cer-tain-ly did), but I wasn’t expecting Tuesday to be even worse. Wednesday morning I turned up to the sesh still without being able to touch my fingers to my shoulders. Sore is an understatement…
Having a PT has absolutely justified why I need a PT, thought. My alarm went off at 5am on Wednesday morning and I literally laid there thinking up every excuse I could not to go. After 10 minutes, I resigned myself to the fact that I had no choice but to go. Of course, it was great and I’m glad I went. Had that been me jut exercising by myself, I would have simply slept for another two hours.
All in all it’s been a funny old week. Just to add insult to the soreness, the hot-water system in my place busted, so my showers have been reduced to the following high-tech solution:

At first I enjoyed the novelty and felt like an old-timey gentlemen who might just be able to grow a consistent beard. That was when I thought it was only going to take 48 hours to fix. It’s now been 9 days and counting. Now, now I’m just cold and bitter.
Add to THAT some sort of coldey/fluey type thing that feels like razors in my throat and monkeys with little mittens banging the inside of my skull: It’s been a pretty crappy week.
Oh well. I’m looking forward to feeling less sore, less cold and less monkey-molested next week.
Below is just the boring log of food and exercise:

Was still sore this morning for the session. Getting up was hell, but demonstrated why I need a PT. Good session, but still got nauseous towards the end. PS — I hate chin ups.

Lunch: . Ham sandwich in a lettuce bun w/ Berocca
Dinner: Chicken wrap w/ Avacado cheese, spinach & capsicum.

I had to go see the doc about a certain “lump” and then to washing. Coupled with the shitty weather and a growing feeling of sickness, exercise didn’t make it on the cards today.
