the reedy drip
from never-dry basements
or the purpled
rhetoric of the miser
the gasp of the lover
on top of the house
aiming for fire escapes
height is the thing
expansive, and not
like the crippled bit off
chunks from garburetor
the swallowing machines
who do our penance
or like growls
saliva-blocked wishes
each grievance enumerated
long before the event
can be written up
can be cornering the market
on loss
or like…
