Introducing the Beach!

We’ve all often wondered at times what else we could do besides our jobs or studies, or how our spare time could be put to better use. As I started working, I often heard from my friends or colleagues that they would like to collaborate on interesting new things in their spare time, but didn’t know what opportunities there were out there. And all of them had the skills and talent to make a difference; they were just looking out for the right opportunity.

The turning point came when my friend Daniel and I were having drinks and telling each other about our busy work day, and we realized we were also finding opportunities to contribute to cool projects outside. We started looking around for potential opportunities, but quickly realised that there wasn’t a place where people could look for a range of projects to choose something they were passionate about.

So we thought — why not set up one?

Enter the Beach — a list of community projects and opportunities which gives you better ways to use your spare time :)

We took inspiration from how the term “Beach” was used in consulting when you’re a consultant on “the beach”, you’re in between projects and not doing much (hence a time to do stuff you really care about). We want you to meet great people, do cool projects and learn new skills during your time at the Beach.

So how is this supposed to work? If you’re looking for something to do, just sign up here!

Once you’ve signed up, we’ll be getting in touch with you pretty soon with a range of exciting projects. Once you’ve identified something you may be interested in working on, just click on it, get in touch with the project owner, and you’re on your way!

If you have a cool project you need help in, post it here. We’ll start sending it around to interested users, and you can get in touch with the ones you think will help you!
