Have you ever rubbed a balloon on your head to make your hair stick up or make the balloon stick to a wall? This is called static electricity! Static electricity works by transferring electrons between two objects. This sometimes comes across as a shock when you rub your feet across a shag carpet and touch something that shocks you, but can also come across as an attraction, which is the case here.

What you’ll need:

• Plastic comb

• Hole puncher

• Your hair

Directions:

1. Using the hole puncher, punch many bits of paper and leave them on a flat surface.

2. Quickly rub your comb through your hair for 15–20 seconds.

3. Lower the comb to the bits of paper.

4. See how many you can attract!
