The Beehive State Doesn’t Bet (But if it did)
Time for this weeks Beehive bets. Every Thursday I will put in my gambling choices for football teams in Utah. I love betting College Football even if I’m terrible at it. That’s the whole point of betting football, right? Having fun. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, it’s how you play the game. I know that cliche’ was intended for gamblers. So, with that said, let’s jump into it
BYU vs Toledo -Fri Sep 30 (The General Conference game) BYU -4
I’ve watched every BYU game this year and this game is an absolute lock. BYU has faced tough opponents this year and has hung with all of them. A group of 5 team for a night game at Lavell Edwards Stadium, plus BYU coming off a loss is all pointing to a win. The offense looked better against WVU. But most importantly, you don’t want to bet against this guy (below) when backed into a corner.
Also, when you have a theme song like this then you’re tough to beat.
I am listening to this as I post this and I can now safely say BYU will go 9–3 and will compete to get into a New Year’s day bowl!!! (probably not, but I fall for it every year) LETSSSS GOOOOO!!!
The over/under is set at 52. Until this offense is more consistent I’m taking the under.
Prediction: BYU 31–13
Utah @ Cal — Saturday @ 6pm EST — Utah +1.5
This line really surprises me. I know Cal has beaten Texas and came close to beating ASU. But, Utah is a solid team and the best defense by far Cal has faced. I like Utah by 10+ points. Troy Williams is improving. He could be a lot better if he didn’t have a binky mouthpiece. But hey, that is just one football guys opinion. Fine. I’ll go ahead and say it. The Utes are not winning the Pac-12 south while Troy Williams has that binky mouthpiece. Write it down…. But they will win this game. You watch, though. They will fall short as long as he has trash hanging from facemask.
As a BYU fan, there has been nothing more infuriating than being beat by an opposing QB who has a pacifier. Seriously, how demoralizing is that???
Utah is also +120 on the moneyline. I’m taking the spread, moneyline, and the under on this one.
Over/Under: 64 — I’m taking the under again. I just don’t see Cal putting up enough points on this Ute defense to take the over.
My prediction 34–20 Utah
Utah State @ Boise State — Saturday 10:15pm EST — USU +21.5
That’s a huge spread, even for a Boise home game. They squeaked one out against Washington State in their last home game. And a terrible Oregon State team scored 24 on them. I’m taking USU to cover. USU has always played Boise fairly tough. Another reason why I always like Utah State, they stole BYU’s colors for their uniforms. They will always get a salute for that. Real recognize real.
My only reservation with USU is that they struggled at home with the Purple Machine, Weber State. I mean Weber will give any team fits no matter who they play; Weber is that good. Might be my purple tinted glasses, but i’m thinking not…
I still haven’t forgave USU though…
My Prediction: 35–24 Boise — But USU covers
I will keep my record going forward. I will update it next Thursday. I’m already penciling 3–0. But ill keep it humble.
