It’s been more than three years since Sergio and Manuel started this amazing adventure. Who would have thought that in June 2013, when they signed the Operative Agreement, the things would be different today. During this time, important milestones have been accomplished, making the dream of two entrepreneurs into a reality called Acornseekers LLC, which is already selling the best Pork Meat of America in the US market.

The most important milestone, by far, occurred in August 2014, when 150 Ibericus Pigs flew from Spain to US, becoming the first Ibericus Pigs in the American continent. That journey was not easy. After bureaucratic nightmares, delays, mechanical issues with the plane, and other inconvenients, the Ibericus Pigs landed New York City on a moonlit night. Sergio and Manuel thought that they were crazy, but they went down in History.

After a long trip by truck, Ibericus Pigs arrived finaly in Flatonia, a town in southern Texas, where today is located the headquarters of the company and the main farm. A paradise full of oak trees and acorns. The perfect place for the Acornseekers.

After 2 years, the original 150 Spanish Ibericus Pigs became more than 2,000. This was possible also thanks to the affiliate farms at Monticello (Florida) and at Columbus (Texas), both idyllic places for the pleasant life of the Ibericus Pigs.

In 2016 the first 200 Ibericus Pigs were harvested. The processing was made by two Spanish specialists (matarifes) who went to Texas to process at the Spanish traditional way, obtaining the historical Aconseekers cuts. Each cut with different features about texture, juiciness, tenderness, marbling and flavor. All of them exquisite, unique, 100% organic and 100% American.

Then, at the end of 2016, the website www.acornseekers.com was launched, giving to everybody the possibility to select the favorite cuts and to place orders online. Thus, anybody in US can get now Acornseekers meat in a simple way, with highest quality guaranty and in a maximum of three days. The best Pork Meat ever directly to your home or restaurant!

2017, a year full of challenges and eagerness

2017 will be a turning point for Acornseekers, for different reasons.

During 2017, livestock will greatly increase thanks to the work done by Manuel Murga (COO of the company) as well as the affiliates farms. And of course, the saws.

The second harvest of 1,000 Ibericus Pigs will take place between March and May. That means that Acornseekers will grow from a commercial point of view, and must adapt all the processes involved between the farm and the final clients. Acornseekers will take off again.

On the other hand, besides ordinary activities, we have big plans for this year. Acornseekers will open, in the second half of the year, the Ibericus Pig Center in the US called Acornseekers Atelier, which will include:

14 acres of land with oaks, full of Ibericus Pigs; Processing facilities; Freezer warehouse; Curing facilities for Acornseekers products, where the famous Ibericus Ham and other products will be produced; Educational conference room; Shop; Restaurant.

The center will be located in the industrial area of Columbus, in South Texas, in a key crossing point of interstates I10 and I71, which has a daily traffic of about 45,000 vehicles. The place is almost equidistant from Houston, Austin and San Antonio. A well located and comfortable site.

The center will be designed by a well-known architect from Barcelona, and will pretend to be the reference of the Ibericus Pig in US. The center will combine didactic activities and gastronomical experiences, a complete package for anyone who wants to know and feel closely the Ibericus Pig culture.

Acornseekers Atelier will be a master franchise that could be replicated in other locations, both in its full version and in its restaurant-shop version.
