Things I’m Thinking with 20 Days Left on a Crowd-Funding Campaign

The Acornseekers team, ready to go!

As of today, there are officially 20 days left on our Kickstarter campaign to raise money for eco-friendly, state-of-the-art jamón ibérico curing facilities in Columbus, Texas. After founding a company, 20 days takes on a much greater meaning than it once used to. It used to be simply an amount of time a little less than a month. Just a number. But now, its significance and its consequences are much greater.

Right now, 20 days to me means the period of time quickly speeding by that we have to ensure we can provide America with the best jamón ibérico possible. It’s the culmination of the past two years for Manuel and me, every decision big and small that has brought us to three American farms, over 2,000 pigs and a suite of fresh meat products available. It is being within arms reach of the American Dream. It’s a reminder that the next great milestone for Acornseekers is moments away.

I am feeling more motivated than ever. As many entrepreneurs can attest, these kinds of moments do not weigh easy on a person, their friends or family, but they do reignite the passion you have for your project and remind you why you got here in the first place. The fact that a looming deadline can affect a team so profoundly is nothing more than proof of the inherent enthusiasm they have for a project.

I am feeling grateful. So very grateful, not only for those that have already donated, but for those that have showed their support by sharing it on social media, spreading the word to their family and friends, or even just sending their well wishes. I am grateful that there is a community out there as passionate about launching this inimitable product in America as we are.

And lastly, I feel hopeful. I’m proud of the work we’ve set out to do and optimistic for the future. I’m hopeful seeing the ever-growing Acornseekers community and humbled by everyone that has helped our dreams become reality, in ways both big and small (though there is arguably no such thing as a “small” way to help).

And so is the life of a startup founder. I am comforted knowing how many out there can relate, and how many people are rooting for us. If you want to learn more about the campaign, check out the video below and head to our Kickstarter, and be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
