Commentary: The 500 most mediocre movies of all time.

Empire magazine recently polled 10,000 of their readers, and 200 people who actually know something about movies (directors, critics, etc) in “The Most Ambitious Movie Poll Ever Attempted in order to come up with the 500 greatest movies of all time. That’s a lot of movies. We won’t watch that many. Also, I’m skeptical of any list that puts Raiders of the Lost Ark at number #2, The Empire Strikes Back at #3, and The Shawshank Redemption at #4. Don’t get me wrong. I think The Shawshank Redemption is a fine movie, but I’m not sure it’s the 4th best movie ever made. I’m absolutely certain that RLA and ESB are not #2 and #3. For the record, I don’t think Hoosiers, Bull Durham, or the Wedding Crashers made the list. Cloverfield clocks in at 394 (just ahead of Casino) and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy sits peacefully at #113. I think I’ll take the Village Voice List even if it is a bit dated and stodgy. I’m an elitist.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
