Queen of the Sciences

I first met her in elementary school,

She was amazing, helping me count beyond two;

But as time went by, she became far from cool.

To get by in today’s world, a man needs her;

She is complex: a man cannot fully understand her;

“Queen of the Sciences”, they call her.

She is part of a civilization’s culture:

Her touch is visible in the architecture of infrastructure;

She has left her mark on technology,

And played a part in wars with no apology.

She is no stranger to change:

As the years go by, she gains;

A queen whose massiveness is beautiful,

And whose beauty is wonderful.

She makes planners tellers of fortune,

And traders, earners of fortune.

Historians know her well:

With her assistance, they have stories to tell.

She is so majestic,

Her subjects, prolific;

Who is this queen?

She is mathematics!
