NESK within The Big Building

NESK is a strategic consultancy in real estate situated in The Big Building. With our somewhat contrarian vision on real estate we add value by focussing on the people and companies behind real estate. In our vision, the bricks that make up buildings are more like a means instead of an end. Our added value lies in the special people and projects we work for which usually go further than just real estate solutions.
A stellar example of one of these projects is the project we are currently doing for the Economic Board Groningen (EBG). The EBG has been founded in order to stimulate the economy in the North of Groningen. They do this by focussing on stimulating entrepreneurship, education, tourism and other promising sectors. Within their program ‘Entrepreneurship’, they aim to facilitate community’s of entrepreneurs hosted within multi-company buildings to the example of The Big Building. This is where NESK got involved. Next to being founder of NESK, Ralph Steenbergen is also one of the founders of The Big Building. Ralph uses his expertise and lessons learned within the Big Building to facilitate the well-functioning of the community of entrepreneurs within the province of Groningen. NESK’s role within this project is creating, facilitating and eventually realising these communities within multi-company buildings.
Although this project eventually leads to a real estate solution, NESK’s focus always has been on the community, entrepreneurs and companies in the region. By organizing several events like Business Model Canvas workshops and a sailing event attended by more than 60 participants, NESK brought entrepreneurs in the region closer together. Next to this, these events supported NESK in mapping the entrepreneurial climate of the region. Now we know whom is active in the region, what they do and what their wishes are. NESK uses this as the foundation for the realization of the community of entrepreneurs and the multi-company buildings. We work closely together with entrepreneurs from the region who we like to call our ‘ambassadors’. With their passion and interest for the region of North-Groningen, extensive network and knowledge, we adjust the multi-company building to the wishes and interest of the entrepreneurs of the region. NESK’s aspiration is that these multi-company buildings will be places where people enjoy to create, learn, work and do business. We therefore actively seek to build bridges with existing educational institutions, business clubs and other initiatives. Thus, although eventually there will several multi-company buildings, NESK adds value by focussing on the people and entrepreneurs who eventually will make use of these buildings. In our sense, this is the whole point of real estate. Logically, this forms the basis for all of our other projects as well!
