When Did American History Begin?

It’s still up for debate — even today.

I don’t think I’ll ever run out of questions to ask.

There’s just too much information out there in the world. Why wouldn’t anyone want to learn about it? And includes anything and everything about American history.

Ever since I could remember, I’ve always enjoyed learning everything I could about the topic. Nowadays, one of the questions that keeps me up at night sometimes is this:

When did American history begin?

Even today, the question is still up for debate. Obviously, everything starts somewhere, but with American history, it’s still a little sketchy.

So, When Did It Start?

There are plenty of historians out there who believe it started at different times:

  • When Columbus discovered the Bahamas in 1492.
  • The 1607 Jamestown settlement.
  • The Pilgrims traveling on the Mayflower in 1620.
  • The Salem Witch Trials of 1692.
  • The colonial period leading up to the Revolutionary War in the 1700s.

All of these options are pretty optional. But wouldn’t it be nice to know when it actually began?
