This weekend we had the pleasure of going to the Sol Y Luna launch party. We’re so happy for Jorge and the rest of the Castro family! Sol Y Luna was one of the very first BirminghamMenus restaurants, over 15 years ago. I still remember when we met with Guillermo, and he agreed to have us design his website and list him on our guide. You never forget the people that believed in you when you were little more than an idea, and the Castro family definitely believed in us early on. We could not be more thrilled to have Sol Y Luna back in our Birmingham local dining community!

For Birmingham food aficionados, the wait is finally over! Hot and Hot Fish Club debuted its brand-new expanded restaurant on Jan. 23 at Pepper Place. The light-filled space is highlighted by a chef’s counter and open kitchen, large windows, exposed brick and a spacious dining area with a 17-foot upholstered banquette ideal for comfortable seating. Chef-owners Chris and Idie Hastings say the move to Pepper Place offers Hot and Hot a unique opportunity to push the culinary conversation forward with guests, while offering them both a relaxed, intimate dinner space and a more casual space to order small plates and cocktails with friends as part of an evening out in one of the most vibrant parts of the city. The new Hot and Hot Fish Club is located at 2901 Second Ave. South, at Pepper Place. For more information, call 205–933–5474 or visit hotandhotfishclub.com.
