a poem

Image by Zoya Loonohod on Unsplash

My heart tells me it was only hours ago
Your goodbye still echoing on the air
Words hitting my spine as they cut through me

The truth is it’s been months
You are a ghost in this space
A memory of fingertips on skin and breath intermingling

Do your thoughts stray to this place, to that time
As the dust falls through sunlight
Coating my body like a frozen kiss

This piece was taken from my debut collection ‘Climbing In The Dark’.
