Lone survivor of foot island
Something in the toenails

microbe off mainland
iota of isles
I lay limp, small circle of sand
under god’s rays I’m
sunnysided up
Quack! quick quizzical look
upside-down foot, gooseing through the ocean
skin-flap wings spring from its sides
another toe rides the tides, fungal tree
poking out between skin and toenail
nighttime now, moonlight bleaches
ocean’s skin
hairy ankles circle,
leg fat for fins
wading in, a rock
stubs my toe
in foot island
blood in water
