Greetings and Welcome to The Blackboard Bulletin Report!

To reintroduce myself: I am Quintessa Williams, a Journalist + Contributing Writer from South Florida. I’ve been writing and reporting professionally for over six years, and I hope I’ll never have to turn it loose. I am also a proud founding member and moderator for the Writers and Editors of Color Collective. I have bylines in MadameNoire, The Root, Blavity, and midnight&indigo.

From then to now, I’ve had the privilege to write and cover various subjects pertinent to the Black community, such as social justice, racial injustice, Black women and maternal mortality, mental health, DEI, entertainment, and more.

I am currently an Education Reporter for Word In Black, where I cover news, insights, and issues critical to Black students and how racial disparities impact their education, families, and communities. My journey into education reporting has allowed me to understand the deep-rooted systemic issues that continue to hinder Black students, from disproportionate truancy laws to the underfunding of public schools.
