The Blade & Beyond At The Movies Does Small Screen: Grey’s Anatomy
Season 4 Finale — Freedom, Parts 1 & 2
A series in which we explore the — somewhat limited — movies and TV show episodes that feature a character who self-harms.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that every few years, Grey’s Anatomy fans must embark upon a great rewatch. I’m currently in the middle of one and just finished Season 4 — which coincidentally was cut short due to the Writer’s Strike of 2007/2008. If you’ve never watched the medical drama, I’m sure you’re still familiar with it and aware of the basics of it. The show follows a group of young doctors who develop from Interns, to Residents, and so on through their careers. It’s been running for 19 seasons, for better or worse, and has boldly covered a wide range of topics during its continued run.
Speaking of bold plotlines, Season 3’s ferry boat crash sparks several, multi-season, lines that brilliantly impact many of the main characters. While I always look forward to watching the aftermath of the crash, particularly the storyline of complex character Rebecca Pope (i.e. Ava, played beautifully by Elizabeth Reeser), I’d entirely forgotten about the incident of self-harm which essentially brings her story to a close.
