Bluzelle Community Project Showcase — Instant Notary App
Combining the power of Bluzelle + IPFS
IPFS is a well-known decentralized storage protocol. It is best for file storage (such as png, pdf, docs), and has very different use cases from Bluzelle, which focuses on data storage.
Today, we shine a spotlight on one of our community developers, Rekpero, who built an instant notary app, combining the excellent features of both Bluzelle & IPFS.
Until now, people can only go to centralized notary services who can confirm the existence of some files at a stated time. For example:
You have an original piece of work, and you need to prove it. You have to go to a notary service, and confirm the existence of this file on a specific date. But it’s possible that someone else can claim the file for an earlier date. Also, there is also no digital proof that the notary is undeniable, and the file is never changed or tampered.
This mobile app solves all the problems. It creates a “proof chain” using Bluzelle + IPFS to prove the authenticity of a set of data and the date & time at which it was notarized. You upload your photos or documentation easily, with the files stored on IPFS in a decentralized way. On top of a basic “storage” function like a Google Drive app, the meta-data, the encrypted hash of the file content, and your location is stamped and stored on BluzelleDB. Once the file is uploaded to the app, it's content and notarized information cannot tampered.
The app helps you organize the files that were previously notarized and you can search it by filenames & descriptions. You are always able to pull up a proof of a notarized file instantly, with the link to IPFS & BluzelleDB transactions.
Advantages of using Bluzelle on top of IPFS:
- The metadata and a hash of the file contents are stored to BluzelleDB, making the files easier to be retrieved, organized, and searched.
- Your file will always be available because the IPFS link to your file is stored on BluzelleDB. You will never lose it.
- Unlike other blockchains that are immutable, BluzelleDB provides the ability to delete your files and information, as long as you are the owner of the data.
This mobile app is an example of one of the amazing ways BluzelleDB can be used. The future uses cases are enormous. Imagine someone with a movie idea and writes down a treatment for it. They can have it notarized with this solution. They can prove to a Hollywood studio that the chain of ownership is from them.
In the near future, the app can be commercialized so that consumers can use it. We will add in-app purchasing where consumers can notarize data by paying a fee to the network validators.
