How Bluzelle Works with Polkadot
Last September, we announced our expansion into the Polkadot ecosystem as we saw a growing number of DeFi projects using their blockchain development framework, Substrate. As a blockchain-agnostic dApp storage solution, Bluzelle’s architecture aligns well with that of Polkadot, freeing developers to launch new parachains while retaining access to a reliable data network.
How Will Bluzelle x Polkadot benefit DeFi?
Bluzelle is building a sophisticated “pallet” for Polkadot apps. A pallet, in Polkadot-speak, is a “plugin” that Polkadot apps can easily “drop into” their apps, and the app immediately has access to Bluzelle’s DB & Oracles, from within Polkadot. This massively expands Bluzelle’s customer base, and will result in greatly increased demand for our validators and tokens.
To date, Bluzelle has formed partnerships with a number of Polkadot-based partners:
Reef Finance: the first Polkadot based cross-chain DeFi operating system that helps to increase liquidity by integrating DEX & CEX into one single platform. The integration of Bluzelle Oracles price feeds will enable Reef to capture real-time price information in order to power the next generation of DeFi applications.
Stafi: unlocking liquidity for staked assets through their staking smart contract and alternative tokens. They will rely on Bluzelle’s powerful database to complete the upgrade of Staking Contracts, supporting including price predictions of rToken/original Token, over-collateralized data in Lending Protocol, and related transaction-related data in future Crypto.
Tidal Finance: a Balancer-like insurance market that allows users to create customized insurance pool. They will utilize Bluzelle’s decentralized database to distribute their data across network.
MANTRADAO: a community-governed DeFi platform focusing on Staking, Lending, and Governance. They will integrate Bluzelle’s decentralized database into their products, including their KARMA rating protocol.
Equilibrium: the first decentralized cross-chain money market that combines pooled lending with synthetic asset generation and trading. They will integrate Bluzelle’s price feed from the Oracles to power its main DeFi services like lending, borrowing, and trading.
RioDefi: a blockchain that bridges traditional and decentralized finance. They will integrate with Bluzelle’s database for off-chain storage or their DeFi data.
Phala Network: a smart contract blockchain on which you can develop confidential-preserving and privacy-first blockchain apps. They have chosen Bluzelle’s decentralized database as one of their off-chain data storage solutions for their main product, Web3 Analytics (winner of Web3 Foundation Grant).
Our Road to Polkadot Integration
Last week, we published our 2021/2022 roadmap where we broke down the 4 stages of our release plan for Polkadot integration. The names of each release is inspired by the Star Trek characters.
Borg (~March 2021)
- Substrate pallet connect with Bluzelle testnet (read-only)
- Support for private Polkadto chains using Bluzelle testnet
Kirk (~July 2021)
- Substrate pallet connect with Bluzelle testnet (read+write)
- Wallet key management
Picard (~November 2021)
- Economic model of using DOT to pay for BLZ services
Archer (~March 2022)
- Substrate pallet connect with Bluzelle Mainnet
- Support for Polkadot Kusama and Main relay chains
Being a member of their exclusive “Builder’s programme”, we have specialized access to their engineering team, to ensure we are successful in deploying our Polkadot pallet rapidly.
About Bluzelle
Bluzelle aims to be the go-to data layer for Web 3.0 by providing a decentralized data network that is tamper-proof and has greater privacy, scalability and availability than traditional solutions. Powered by Cosmos, Bluzelle handles 10,000 TPS and is a delegated proof of stake. Bluzelle’s DeFi solutions are being developed to enhance Defi with historical price feeds, provide data analytics, 360-degree views, and more. As DeFi grows, Bluzelle’s infrastructure services play a big role.
