New Partnership Announcement with JD.com
Bluzelle joins Chinese e-commerce giant’s AI & blockchain startup accelerator
A couple of weeks back we announced our first wave of collaborations with 0x, Zilliqa and Bee Token. Today is our first enterprise partnership with one of the biggest tech companies in the world, JD.com. This Chinese internet behemoth, is building a new AI Catapult Accelerator (AICA) for AI and blockchain startups. We had always planned for a passive approach on working with large companies but when an opportunity comes from them and we see huge value to both, we had to jump in.
JD.com is China’s largest retailer, online or offline, and the world’s third-largest internet company by revenue. With more than 266 million active customers, JD is a direct seller of millions of brands from around the world and hosts a marketplace of more than 160,000 trusted merchants. The company, which owns and operates its own advanced nationwide logistics systems, has embraced AI and blockchain across its operations. This collaboration is designed to help unlock the transformative power of AI and blockchain startups for the new age of supply chain management, cost-effectiveness and consumer satisfaction.
JD.com’s creation of the accelerator comes on the heels of its 2017 entry into the Blockchain in Transport Alliance (BiTA), joining other industry giants such as FedEx. JD.com is the first Chinese member of the alliance.
“Bluzelle is working on solutions to address infrastructural challenges for the next generation of blockchain apps. We look forward to working with them,” said Uri Ferruccio, Director of Strategy and Investment for JD’s AI Platform and Research Division.
Because JD.com is a diverse company with businesses in many areas, this opens many opportunities for us to work together. We see JD.com being a potential consumer and producer on our network. As a consumer, we can explore specific use cases where JD.com can store some of their data on the Bluzelle protocol, thus getting the security, scalability and reliability our blockchain powered network can provide. Because JD.com also offers cloud computing services, we can explore them being producers by providing some of the decentralized nodes where data can be stored.
