Dear Validators,

Since the 28th of December, over 200 community validators had come together to validate our new testnet. Throughout the intense battle across 3 weeks, the new network has been running faultlessly.

Today, we are pleased to announce that we are closing off the Hard Fork Contest at block height 345,000 (check out CENSUS or BigDipper Explorer), which is estimated to be around Friday January 22, 2021 23:00 UTC.

Since the end of Swarm of Duty 1 and the launch of Soft Mainnet, the Bluzelle team has implemented many more new features to improve the usability, user experience and security of the Bluzelle network, including new jailing criteria, fair leasing gas algorithm, tax modules, and so on. These were all thoroughly tested throughout this contest. The success in this Hard Fork Contest means we have cleared all the obstacles towards Mainnet! This could not be accomplished without the hard work from our tech team and the selfless help from our community.

Interesting Facts We Observed From the Contest

  • No glitches whatsoever throughout the 3 weeks. This time around, the network was being HAMMERED with DB requests from our own decentralized database, new Oracles (in testing) and other community dApps currently utilizing our new Testnet. The network has survived through these highly-intensity “stress testings”.
  • Our new network now has the ability to do batch transactions, which is critical to the continuous improvement of TPS (transactions per second), especially for our upcoming Oracles. TPS is a key criteria in measuring competitiveness for a blockchain.
  • The network peaked at 258 validators, which was amazing and provided a good degree of decentralization
  • “Zero Eight”, our loyal and long time validator and supporter, was the first to join as a validator, mere minutes after the network was started
  • The contest was super competitive, as expected, with a large number of validators in the 97%+ voting participation range. This is a superbe achievement!

Next Steps

The team will collect and analyze all the data once we reach the ending block height and will decide on the winners and rewards based on the rules published at the start. Please make sure you keep your validator active until the end of the contest to be eligible for rewards.

Meanwhile, make sure you follow the below instructions to help us facilitate the reward distribution process:

For validators who participated in the contest, please post your Ethereum Address (to receive your ERC20 BLZ rewards) by editing your validator information. You can use this command and edit the “details” field:

For validators who are currently on the Soft Mainnet, we will reach out to you shortly about the onboarding details to the production Mainnet on Discord & email.

For validators who are currently working on (or interested in) other tasks for Swarm of Duty 2 (Call to Arms), please continue to sign up and claim tasks. Check out more details here.
