Patrick Wayne Kearney was responsible for killing 21–43 young men in Los Angeles, California from 1962-March 13, 1977. After killing a victim, he would have sex with their corpse. Then he would dismember their bodies before placing the remains in trash bags to be disposed of along the freeways of Southern California. During the late-70s and into the early 80s, Los Angeles, California, experienced an anomaly of sorts regarding a series of murders. Human remains were being disposed of along the many freeways that span the area. Some of the victims were tortured before they were murdered. Some of the victims were young teenagers, while others were adult men. Others were dismembered and placed in trash bags before they were disposed of.

While the authorities were investigating each murder, they were baffled by what appeared to be an erratic modus operandi. At the time, they dubbed their unsub The Freeway Killer. Little did they know, there was more than one killer at large — there were actually three of them.
