Reading a sublime fine light romance novel comes with its own fringe benefits. Sad faces, tragic moments, welled-up eyes…it’s not romance, it could be a sad heartbreaking tale of love and lost. I am headed up for contemporary romance, befuddled by personal priorities, and modern idiosyncrasies. Love is love…yet I love to see how lovers react and jostle their ways out amid a myriad of circumstances.

“Diary of a Whimsical Lover” by Gaurav Sharma fits my nerves for that fine and soft romance segment that I have been enjoying for years with Indian authors. Romance books by Indian authors are easy to comprehend and relate. Why Diary of a Whimsical Lover by Gaurav Sharma is a special book in my shelf — well I have a few reasons to justify that?

1)

It’s Out of Drama:

Often love stories cannot proceed until there are emotional wounds or melancholy that runs deep in every heart. This one is about one guy who is shy and introvert, and a girl who is bold and fearless. Their chemistry is unpredictable yet they look like in the same boat. Whatever they do or expect from one another, however there is no heart and tears brouhaha. The story is as clean as it could be.

2)

Personal Life in Canada:

Canada might be considered a colony of Indians. Various sources indicate that life for an Indian in Canada is a cakewalk. However, the truth is way different. The lead character Gaurav is a student there and he admitted that he paid a fortune to do some law enforcement diploma. And above all, during college days, he worked at a gas station to run his expenses. After the college, he hunted for a job like anything. Life and harsh cold climate is not for everyone. The way he struggles for his basic amenities fills my heart for him. So, in a sense, he presented the actual life facts of an immigrant in Canada.

3)

Narrative of an Introvert:

The story revolves around Gaurav and he chases Maya, with whom he fell in love at first sight. Being alone in Canada, he strives for settlement, and has a lot of priorities to sort out. Being alone and aloof, he is subsequently a shy and introvert kind of guy. He seeks love from Maya but also keenly observes his surrounding, that vivid description infuses charm in the novel. I liked this guy for being not indulging into ostentatious things. The guy is highly into himself, even to express his love, he pens down a novella for that girl. If you would like to know how introvert guys behave in love, you can opt for this novel.

4)

Literary Aspects:

Gaurav Sharma evolved with this contemporary romance. Like his previous mythological genre novels, this time too he leaves the story at an equivocal point. Let readers interpret what’s next. It’s evident that he got affinity and great flair for writing. However, in Diary of a Whimsical Lover you will be confronted with something new — he brilliantly paints the people and surrounding of his backdrop. The novel moves at an optimum pace with lucid narration and control over emotions in a romance novel. Gaurav rocked! He should frequent the romance genre, as India is blooming with it.
